Brian Speaks was pronounced dead at the scene late in the afternoon inside an apartment in the 3500 block of Parkway Terrace Drive over the weekend, according to police in Prince George's County.

When officers arrived, they found Speaks suffering from gunshot wounds inside the building, and despite their best efforts to provide aid, he was declared dead at the scene, leaving his friends and family reeling and filled with questions.

"We are heartbroken to share that on Nov. 15, our beloved Brian Speaks was wrongfully taken from us," Darius Speaks said. "As a family, we are devastated by this unexpected loss."

Now the community is rallying around the family, raising thousands of dollars in the days after his death.

"Brian was a genuine family man who brought love, kindness, and joy to everyone he met," his family said. "He had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and supported, and his impact touched so many lives."

Prince George’s County Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case as they continue to search for those responsible.

Services have been scheduled for Monday, Dec. 2.

"We are asking for your help to raise funds for Brian’s funeral costs and related expenses," Darius Speaks wrote. "Any amount you can contribute will mean the world to us and will help bring peace as we honor his incredible life."
